Black and white photographic plates throughout. Binding remains firm. Pages and plates are lightly tanned throughout. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Very slight crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket has light edgewear with tears and creasing. Tape to bottom edges. Light tanning to spine and edges.

The first edition of European Regalia by Lord Twining in the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper.Lord Edward Twining was a British diplomat and Governor of North Borneo and Tanganyika. As a historian, he published similar work to this titled A History of the Crown Jewels of Europe, which at seven hundred pages was a very extensive book on the subject. This work appears to be a continuation of this study.Densely illustrated with ninety six monochrome plates and various in-text illustrations. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some slight wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper, with a few small creases and very small closed tears. There is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean. Near Fine. book.

Each of its 27 chapters deals with a different Christian country in Europe Information is given on over 600 crowns, 187 sceptres, 98 orbs and 116 ceremonial swords, and of these some 200, 76, 33 and 62 respectively are extant. In addition other items are described including 16 ampulae and such other royal ornaments as bracelets, rings, spurs, lances, keys of state, and the insignia of the great orders of chivalry." Eldon has received the recipient's letter, 'with a paper inserted from Mrs Campbell or Clark. This paper is addressed to me under a very common Misapprehension of the Chancellors powers & duties'. Eldon can only take notice of coummunications 'made, in the usual & regular forms, in open Court'. He is 'unable to take any Step whatever in Consequence of this Communication'.
