Physical description, [7] viii - xxxviii, [2],[3] 4 - 360; [4], [5] 6 - 347, [5] vi - xii, [3] 4 - 516, [2] publishes adverts. Occasional very light spotting to the prelims. and endpapers, otherwise a clean triple decker. Publisher's green close bead-grain cloth over boards very slightly rubbed, the covers decorated in blind, backstrips lettered directly in gilt. Corners lightly bumped with a couple of boards just peerping throuigh. Previous owners name in ink in gilt on the front endpapers. Vol I Critical and Ethical; Vol II Aesthetical and Literary; Vol III Critical and Ethical. Overall a very good set in the original binding. Grosart, Alexander Balloch (1827-1899), author and editor born of Scottish parents. He was educated at the Parish School of Falkirk and privately, and went on to study at Edinburgh University where he graduated as a ' Man of the Cloth.' He edited reprints of rare Elizabethan and Jacobean Literature.Wise, p.39.
