Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Two volumes (complete). In German throughout. A steady, sound, serene set of this extraordinary study of the people of Borneo from the equally extraordinary Dutch explorer, Nieuwenhuis. The set has some wear, some aging. However it is most agreeable. Both are covered in decorated, gilt-stamped, cream cloth boards. The boards of both books are worn, scuffed, marked from storage and handling. They are benign and sure. The head of the spines have been securely repaired with leather patches. The frontis and end papers have wear and marks. They are placid. Volume 1: 493 pages. The trims and edges have wear. The pages are clean, clear, generous, certain, bold. There are very occasional handling marks and some very light foxing. All plates and maps present. Volume II (pub: 1907): 557 pages. The back board has been marked, stained and wrinkled from damp storage conditions. Whilst this has transferred ever so slightly to the preceding pages, these have no audacious marks or wrinkling. The pages are robustly secure. There is age-related foxing here and there about edges and seams. However, the pages are very assured, clean, clear, generous, competent, diligent. Despite the aging and wear, this is a gratifying set. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
