First edition in English. 8v0. ( 221mm. ) Pp.[9] x- xi verso blank, [1] 2 - 197 verso blanl[3] 4 - 5 [2] 8 - 35 [2] 38 [2] verso blank. All edges with a red wash. A clean bright copy. The last 38 pages include the Report of the eighty-eighth meeting of the New Sydenham Society held in Carlisle , 1896, and a Classified List of the Society's Publications. Publishers brown cloth backed boards, the covers decorated in blind, the upper covers with central lozenge and gilt profile of Thomas Sydenham in the centre. A very good copy. The first edition was published in German in 1892. Bernhard Naunyn ( 1839 192e ) was a renowned German pathologist born in Berlin. This is the first edition in English of his his classic tratise treatise on gall-stones. See Garrison and Morten 3634 for the first edition.
