Hardcover. Zustand: g- to vg. First edition. Folio. 233pp. [10] (xi) [1]. Orange and b/w photo-illustrated dust jacket, with text printed in black. Grey buckram boards with black lettering on the spine. This powerful work serves as photo-documentation of the horrors and atrocities committed against the Polish people, and their struggle for survival during the Nazi-occupation, 1939-1945. The period covered by the images starts with the German air-raids of September 1st 1939, and concludes in Berlin on May 8th 1945 with the German surrender and the end of the war. The book is profusely illustrated throughout with countless finely printed b/w images in photogravure, displaying the resilience and bravery of the Polish resistance and Nazi aggression and brutality visited upon them. The images here include a number of powerful and dynamic action shots, taken during battle, as well as harrowing and disturbing photo-documentation of Nazi concentration and death camps. Also included are images of relevant original documents. All images are captioned in Polish. No photo credits are given for the images. A final text section at the back of the book includes a chronology of various significant events during the war. Errata sheet at the very back.
