Bassey, at the time assistant professor in the education department at SUNY Oneonta. Bassey writes in the introduction: "The contribution of African Americans to philosophy is hardly ever acknowledged. Hence, although much has been written about Malcolm X, most of the writings are historical narratives and a barrage of his speeches." Bassey's stated goal is to "delineate and compare some of the significant theoretical constructs between existentialism and Malcolm X's work." Bassey received his Ed.D in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education at Rutgers, where he wrote his dissertation on politics and education in Nigeria. *OCLC* locates several titles by Dr. Bassey: *Western Education and Political Domination in Africa: A Study in Critical and Dialogical Pedagogy* (Bergin & Garvey, 1999); *Missionary Rivalry and Educational Expansion in Nigeria, 1885-1945* (Edward Mellon Press, 1999); *Malcolm X: The Seeker of Justice* (Xlibris, 2003); and *Malcolm X and African American Self-Consciousness* (Edwin Mellon Press, 2005).
