In the original French.Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, retaining the original tissue guard, and with two further vignettes.ESTC Citation No. T120506. Lacking the half title.Poetic work in Alexandrian verse occupies the final portion of this work, which is largely made up of a biographical history of Columbus.With the label of the Library of the Catholic Club to the front pastedown, and with their stamp to the head of the title page. Label to back strip tail.The author, who was a Knight of Malta and governor of Poitiers, describes the life of Columbus in Portugal, and compares the ultimate fate of the navigator with several historical figures. In a quarter morocco binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Joint tails starting, but firmly held. Library labels to back strip tail and front pastedown, with stamp to title page head. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with light spotting throughout. Very Good. book.

O autor, que foi cavaleiro de Malta e governador de Poitiers, descreve a vida de Colombo em Portugal e compara o destino infeliz deste navegador com várias personagens históricas nomeadamente Magalhães e Camões.
