Association copy of the Hungarian art critic's collection of essays about the pathology of artists. Inscribed to Ernst Kállai (1890-1954) the Hungarian art historian who first published his works in Lajos Kassák's magazine "MA". In 1928 he was the editor of the periodical "Bauhaus" in Dessau. Illustrated with 48 full-page and 20 in-text (five of which are paste-ons) reproductions of works by painters such as Pablo Picasso, Giorgio de Chirico, Georg Grosz, Marc Chagall, Edgar Degas, Jacques Lipchitz, Henry Matisse, Modigliani, Monet, Emil Nolde and Renoir. . Wrappers somewhat chipped. Some pages creased. Title page torn, but no effect on text. Underlines and notes in pencil by Kállai throughout. Overall in good condition. In publisher's wrappers, with an illustrated vignette on cover First edition. Association copy, inscribed the ErnÅ (Ernst) Kállai. Text in French.
