1p. pen and ink on paper. 4to. Zustand: Old folds, else fine. 1p. pen and ink on paper. 4to. From the American Revolution to the Guillotine. A superb piece written shortly after Biron's promotion to Lieutenant General. Having been authorized to have to aides-de-camp, he asks the expedition of his patent to Mr de Preissac (Louis-Lambert de Preissac). Born to the French nobility, Armand-Louis de Gontaut Biron (1747-1793), joined the French Army at age fourteen. By 1780, he was given command of the Lauzan Hussars, and fought with the regiment the American Revolutionary War, under Rochambeau. Biron returned to France and went on to serve as commander of several French armies until his noble birth caught up with him in and he was condemned to death by the revolutionary tribunal. He was executed by guillotine on December 31, 1793.
