"Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan (1914-1944) was a British resistance agent in France in World War II who served in the Special Operations Executive (SOE). Under the codename Madeleine she became the first female wireless operator sent from the UK into occupied France to aid the French Resistance. She was betrayed, captured, and executed at Dachau." - Wikipedia. "My object in writing has been to make known the story of a brave woman, a woman whose nobility of character was as much appreciated by the Germans, who were her adversaries in war, as by her friends at home - perhaps even more keenly by them, because they knew her in the hour of her greatest trial. Their testimonies are almost unbearably eloquent." - Preface. Foreword by Selwyn Jepson, a senior SOE recruiting officer. (Wikipedia) [6]-192 pp. Black and white frontis photo portrait of subject. Contents gently tanned otherwise very clean, tight and unmarked with light wear. Moderate wear to original blue boards. No dust jacket. A quality example of this extraordinary account.; Sm 8vo.

2pp., 4to. In fair condition, lightly-aged and somewhat creased at extremities. He explains that he has sent 'the Van Gogh material' to Feisenberger, whose address he gives. 'We have known him well these last thirty years: he learnt his rare book expertise working (side by side with Tania) fror Irving Davis (Davis & Orioli).' He continues with the description of Feisenberger's career, adding 'Although thhe Van Gogh Ms is not strictly speaking within its scope, he is international figure with worldwide contacts amongst collectors and institutions who buy such items as you Van Gogh and is [in] a position to arrange things for you.' He ends the letter with suggested arrangements for a meeting. In a postscript he gives more information about Feisenberger ('known to everybody as "Feisi"'), whom he says 'comes of a distinguished pre-war German family who fled Hitler in 1933'.
