The work contains a preface by Laurence and finished poetry left in a series of notebooks that his brother was permitted to publish, before destroying the notebooks as instructed and any remaining work that was unfinished. Light age toning and spotting and an old ink inscription dated 1936, belonging Cecil French, to the endpapers. The wrap is generally smart with sunning to the spine with closed tears to the head and tail and the odd chip and mark.
