Schon neben der Schule nimmt sie Musik- und Schauspielunterricht - zuerst in Israel, wohin ihre Familie 1935 ausgewandert ist, und von 1951 bis 1952 an der l'EPJD (l'Éducation Par le Jeu Dramatique) in Paris. Ab 1955 bekommt Ruth Geller Engagements an sämtlichen Theatern in Israel. Als Pianistin und Schauspielerin arbeitet sie sowohl auf als auch hinter der Bühne, wirkt in Filmen im In- und Ausland mit und ist später auch im Fernsehen zu sehen. Daneben studiert Ruth Geller an der Universität Tel Aviv und absolviert den Bachelor in Literatur und Jüdischer Geschichte, später den Master in Jüdischer Geschichte. Danach studiert sie noch zwei Jahre Philosophie, doch diverse Engagements lassen ihr keine Zeit, auch dieses Studium zu beenden. Die Aufzeichnungen ihrer Erinnerungen an ein bewegtes Leben kamen, wie sie sagt, "ganz spontan beim Staubsaugen in der Wohnung".
