One of these plates at the end of the book is torn below the half-way point. The frontis has a very narrow margin extension to bring it level with the fore-edge of the title and the title has a neatly repaired tear without loss. There is some fingering to the margin and some edge dusting but a desirable early hunting book. The text refers to each of the plates with an explanation of the snares, nets and dummy animals shown on the various figures of the plates with letters explaining the purpose and functioning of the traps. The first book explains how to make and set traps and the other parts deal with none migrating birds, the migrating birds are dealt with in the 3rd part, and four legged animals are trapped in part four with Fish in the final part. Many of the capture methods are claimed to be original to the author and quite unique. 1 volume. Hardcover.

L'auteur do…nne les manières de prendre les oiseaux au filet, à la glu, au miroir, au grand-duc, au lacet (pour les bécasses), etc. il explique comment attraper les oiseaux de fauconnerie, propose des camouflages pour approcher le gibier d'eau, présente toutes sortes de pièges pour les loups et les nuisibles, et enseigne les manières de pêcher, etc. Illustré des 66 célèbres planches des éditions précédentes gravées ici sur cuivre pour la première fois. Beau titre-frontispice allégorique gravé par Daniel de la Feuille (1640-1709) qui travaillait pour les éditeurs et cartographes amstellodamois. Bon etat Thiébaud, 409. Collation : Petit in-8°, 16,7 x 11 cm, [8] + 292 pp. + [3] de tables. Demi-basane à petits coins fin XVIIIe. Dos lisse orné de 4 guirlandes dorées. Titre à froid (dédoré ?). Reliure modeste. Frottements aux plats. Le papier à la colle qui les recouvre connaît quelques timides manques et a tendance à se décoller des plats. Intérieur frais.
