Printed by Charles Herissey, Evreux, France. Reprint, first published in 1859. Outer joints dry, else shows very little wear, inner hinges are tight, contents very clean and unmarked. Bookseller accession no.: 25049. Michelet, Jules, 1798-1874, was a French author probably best-known for his monumental "Histoire de France", but "L'Amour was also one of his very popular works. Eliot during its entire run from October 1922 until it ceased publication in January 1939 ("Perhaps one of the most influential critical reviews of its day," Miller-Price 45). Contents include: the first appearance of D. H. Lawrence's short story, "Jimmy and the Desperate Woman"; and Conrad Aiken's poem "Psychomachia". The author names Feiron Morris and Felix Morrison were two of a number of pseudonyms used by Vivien Eliot, wife of T. S. Eliot. Also with reviews by Wyndham Lewis, Herbert Read, Conrad Aiken, F. S. Flint, and Harold Monro. A good, reasonably well-preserved copy overall; contents clean; wrapper age-toned and lightly soiled; wrapper yapp edges worn and frayed as usual, with some pieces missing.
