The merest hint of spotting to the top edge, else a fine copy in slightly dust soiled non-price-clipped dust wrapper with several tiny closed tears and a small area of surface abrasion to the base of the spine panel, where a small sticker has been removed. Based on the author's own wartime experiences, a "violently anti-Franco" novel with a printed dedication "To the private soldier of the best infantry in the world". (Ortas joined Franco's Republican Air Force in 1936, subsequently spending some years in a French P.O.W. camp, and was later imprisoned in Spain for five years on political grounds).
