This work is an interesting collection of morally guided anecdotes, depicted as being told from a father to his children, discussing various aspects of the earth and life itself. The narrative focuses on intellect, the people of the earth, and morality. Written by Georges Depping. Depping was a historian who is probably best known for his work 'The Jews in the Middle Ages', which was highly celebrated for his description of the lives of the Jewish people in France during the Medieval period. Frontispiece to all volumes. In a full calf binding. Externally, front boards of Volumes I, III, and IV are detached but present. Light marking to the boards. A little discolouration to the spines. Minor rubbing to the spines, heavier to Volume I. Front hinge of Volume II with cords showing but remains firm. Rear hinge of Volume I with cords showing but remains firm. Rear hinge Volume II starting but firm. Rear boards of Volumes III and IV may detach with further handling. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper of Volumes I, III, 'Mary Johnson Arley Aug 12'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots. Good Only. book.
