Softcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. 11 pages (complete). The pamphlet signed by Joseph Burtt-Davy on the front page. Burtt-Davy was an extraordinary man: in 1903, he was appointed botanist and agrostologist with the newly founded Transvaal Department of Agriculture. He started a collection of Transvaal plants of which he already had an intimate knowledge of the subject. These first specimens came from Meintjieskop, Irene and a trip to the western Transvaal - at the time of his retirement in 1913, his collected specimens numbered 14,000. Burt-Davy was much interested on the subject of plant introduction. He imported plants and seeds from all over the world and was responsible for introducing the forage crop, teff, as well as the lawn grass Kikuyu (which grasses many South African lawns). A mild-mannered copy. It has some user creasing and wear. These are benign. The pages are clean, clear, placid, assured, diligent, competent. fk.
