Antwerpen, Jan Meyssens Constvercooper op de Eyermert inden goude Rexdalder, 1661, in-4°, engraved title (A.van Diepenbeck) + 585 pp + (3)(approbatie, colophon, bl.), with 101 full page text engravings of which 96 portraits, contemporary full calf, raised gilt back, spine and corners expertly restored, gilding worn and partially faded but still a fine/good copy of a rare book. The book consists of three parts with continuous pagination. This is a copy of the rare first edition of this important source on the arts in the Netherlands. The first part deals with painters who died between 1600 and 1661, the second with artists still active in 1661, the third with sculptors, architects, engravers who were active until 1661.
