The first edition.David Bannerman's exploration of the Canary Islands, looking at the history, natural history, and scenery.The author researched this work whilst on ornithological camping trips across the islands.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, three folding maps, seven folding plates, two colour plates, and thirty-seven monochrome plates.Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with discolourations to the boards, and fading to the spine. Some light marks to the boards and spine, including a light tide mark to the rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Amateur tape repair to the rear hinge. Tide mark to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots. Tide mark to the margins to the final few pages, including the plates. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half-title and to the head of page vii. Good. book.

He was the son of the intrepid explorer and mountaineer Aleaxander (Sandy) Wollaston 1875-1930. He was on the first Everest expedition. Very good indeed in bright, clean, price-clipped, near very good dust jacket, with slight surface wear and some chips at top edge. Signedes.
