The book caused quite a sensation among Europe's astronomical community - and as it soon turned out, Horrebow's claim was actually based more on sensation than on reality. Copernicus triumphans is, nevertheless, an important work in the Danish history of science, simply because it marks the ultimate victory for Copernicanism". (Kragh, Science in Denmark, P. 93).
