Erstausgabe
Hardcover first edition - First edition. Kohn was an American historian and philosopher, who pioneered the academic study of nationalism. Born into a German-speaking Jewish family in Prague, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he fought in World War I serving time in a prison camp, then lived in Paris and London until he and his wife immigrated to the US in 1934. He was also a prominent supporter of a binational solution in Palestine. This book traces the beginnings of nationalism to the French Revolution, but also covers the movement in Asia and Africa, focusing on both the hopes and dangers it can bring. Volume 28 in the World Perspectives series under the general editorship of Ruth Nanda Anshen. Index. xvi, 171 pp. Near fine in a good only dust jacket (prev owner's name stamped on bottom edge of textblock, price-clipped, sunning to spine, edgewear).
