Exceedingly rare I.S.P., 8" x 10", a heavy stock matte-finish sepia tone image with Melbourne Starr Studios embossed back-stamp, depicting Witwer (almost ghostly) gazing aimlessly with a very solemn expression, boldly signed: "To Edgar A. Moss - With Best Wishes - Sincerely - H.C. Witwer", a haunting image to say the least. Condition: slight striations that affect two letters in the sentiment but which are far from the signature. Overall: very good. *Due to his untimely death, Witwer is rare in any format, signed photographs are almost non-existent. American short story author most notable during his lifetime for his baseball and boxing stories; one of America's first sports journalists. At age twenty-six Witwer became one of the earliest credited writers of comedy film shorts. Battling a lifetime indulgence with alcohol, Witwer dies of cirrhosis of the liver at age 35.
