Sintetitza les idees polítiques d'Eiximenis relatives al govern de l'estat i, en particular, de la ciutat i és una obra fonamental en la configuració del sistema del pactisme català. Aquesta és la primera edició crítica del Regiment feta directament des del millor manuscrit conservat. El Regiment de la Cosa Pública (Regimiento de la Cosa Pública) es una obra de 38 capítulos escrita en idioma catalán por Francesc Eiximenis en 1383, coincidiendo con su venida a Valencia, y dedicada a los jurats (representantes municipales) de esta ciudad. El llibre va constituir, més endavant, el tercer tractat (capítols 357-395) del Dotzè del Crestià. Totes dues obres van perdurar a la Sala del Consell de València i van accedir ben aviat a la impremta: primer el Dotzè (1484), després el Regiment (1499). Actualment es conserven tres manuscrits del Dotzè i diversos exemplars de les dues edicions incunables. El Regiment de la cosa pública sintetitza les idees polítiques d'Eiximenis relatives al govern de l'estat i, en particular, de la ciutat. Tot i partir del Communiloquium de Joan de Gal les, Eiximenis el refà i l'adapta als seus propòsits, afegint-hi tot de materials propis, excursos narratius i nombroses observacions amb contingut polític o ideològic.
