J. Walters is a West Michigan–based author whose work moves freely among informative writing, humor and satire, science fiction, philosophical introspection, and theoretical physics. Guided by a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, Walters believes that experience loses much of its value when it is not shared. Every lesson, observation, and insight passed on has the potential to benefit someone else—and perhaps, in its own small way, help make the world a better place.
With more than three decades of experience in the service industry, primarily in management, Walters has developed a keen understanding of human nature and interpersonal relationships. Those experiences, combined with an enduring love of learning, continue to serve as an ever-present source of inspiration. Whether exploring an unconventional idea, examining the complexities of human behavior, or imagining possibilities beyond the boundaries of the known world, Walters writes with curiosity, candor, and a distinctive sense of humor.
Walters is the author of The Assholes Travel Compendium of Insulting Salutations: A Field Guide for People Who Have Run Out of Polite, a playful and irreverent work created for readers who appreciate sharp wit and the comic absurdities of everyday communication. Walters is also currently developing a science-fiction novel, Creating Atlantis, which reflects a continuing fascination with speculative ideas and the possibilities of worlds both imagined and yet to be discovered.
Above all, Walters hopes each piece of writing leaves something with the reader. Sometimes that may be a laugh or a bright spot in the day. Sometimes it may be a question worth contemplating, or a new idea worth exploring. And sometimes, the greatest achievement is simply helping someone learn something they did not know before.
Outside of writing, Walters enjoys playing guitar and continuing the never-ending pursuit of knowledge that has shaped both a life and a body of work.
