James Wesley Cummins

James Wesley Cummins has spent much of his life at the crossroads of faith, history, military service, law enforcement, and adventure.

Raised on a farm south of Weatherford, Texas, Cummins grew up not far from Grace Baptist Church, the congregation where, decades later, he would return to and serve as senior pastor. His Texas roots also included rodeo: as a young man, he competed in rodeo and rode bulls, gaining an early appreciation for courage, determination, risk—and occasionally knowing when to hang on for dear life.

Those early adventures were only the beginning.

A U.S. military veteran and longtime Texas peace officer, Cummins has served in military, law-enforcement, intelligence, security, and international policing environments. His career eventually carried him far from the Texas countryside to Kosovo, where he served on two international police missions alongside officers from around the world. His experiences in the Balkans—its people, history, conflicts, ancient traditions, and unforgettable landscapes—continue to influence his writing.

Cummins is a pastor, chaplain, seminary student, historian, and genealogical researcher with a particular fascination for medieval Scotland, the Comyn family, the Viking world, European history, and the ways events centuries ago continue to shape people and nations today.

His writing ranges from history and genealogy to historical fiction, thrillers, science fiction, and Theology, often blending careful research with a lifetime of unusual experiences and characters confronted by extraordinary circumstances.

Over the years, Cummins has worn more than a few hats: farm boy, rodeo cowboy, soldier, Marine, Texas peace officer, international police officer, security professional, pastor, police and Cowboys for Christ chaplain, student, researcher, husband, father, and grandfather.

Through it all runs a conviction that some of the greatest stories are found where history, faith, mystery, danger, and human courage collide.

Today, James Wesley Cummins lives in Texas with his wife, Terrie.
