Josef Sobotta

Josef Sobotta writes dark science fiction, sometimes laced with cosmic horror. He is drawn to the kind of story that starts small, one person in one dying place, and keeps opening downward until it is looking at the shape of everything. The pull of the genre, for him, is simple: it is honest enough to admit how little we are owed an explanation, and patient enough to make the dread earned.

His debut, the Synthetic Ascension trilogy (Scourge, Incursion, Apotheosis), is one continuous descent across three books, with no waiting between volumes. It is for readers who like their mysteries deep, their science fiction unafraid of the strange, and the long way down better than the easy way out.

He keeps the rest to himself. The work goes further than he would.
