I live and work in Dublin, Ireland. My wife and I have 5 children and 10 grandchildren between us. On our first holiday with two of our grandchildren, one of them said "granddad, tell us a story from your head". At first I didn't get what he ment, but sometimes he didn't want a story from a book, but wanted a story made up on the spot. The Magic Tree books came directly from me having to make up a story on the spot on this holiday.

I originally come from Leicester, England. But these days I say that I identify as Irish! I am in Ireland over 26 years now and I am married to my amazing wife Martina. I may still sound English, but I think and feel Irish now. I only watch Ireland football and rugby matches these days, though I do still follow Liverpool as I will forever.

I worked as an electrician on aeroplanes for 16 years then went to university to study computer science. I have since worked mainly as a contractor on large scale computer systems supporting projects for large multinational brand named compaines.

This took me to 14 countries in and around Europe, getting on planes weekly was part of the job. Since covid I have worked remotely full or part time. I must say I do not miss the travelling!

I have been a ballrrom dancer (25 years), soccer player (until age 54), retired from both due to tired knees. I do a bit of oil painting, lots of DIY, a bit of app development using Python, and most recently a touch of writing. Who knows what might be next?
