Softcover. Zustand: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 16 x 22 cm, 112 pages, 24 color and 8 b/w illustrations - This book features Pousttchi s new photographic installation at Nivola Museum in Orani on the Italian island of Sardinia. She chose the Metropolitan Life Building on 1 Madison Avenue in Manhattan as her subject for this piece. Criticized for its blatant Italian references at the time of its completion in 1909 and the world s tallest structure until 1913 the building displays a hybrid identity, recalling cultural and temporal-spatial dislocations between the Old and the New World, Renaissance and Modernism.

Softcover. Zustand: Sehr gut. 2. Auflage. Z : 16 x 21,5 cm, 456 pages, with 100 black/white images - Andy Warhol, Susan Sontag, John Lennon & Yoko Ono Jonas Mekas was well acquainted with a great many New York artists. Born in Lithuania, he came to Brooklyn via Germany in 1949 and began shooting his first experimental films there. Mekas developed a form of film diary in which he recorded his daily observations. He became the barometer of the New York art scene and a pioneer of American avant-garde cinema. Every week, starting in 1958 he published his legendary »Movie Journal« column in the Village Voice, writing on a range of subjects that were by no means restricted to the world of film. He conducted numerous interviews with artists, some of which will now appear for the first time in his Scrapbook of a Sixties. The book contains published and unpublished texts that reveal Mekas as a thoughtful diarist and an unparalleled chronicler of the day a phenomenon that has continued now for over fifty years.

Hardcover. Zustand: Gut bis sehr gut. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Gut bis sehr gut. 1. Auflage. B4 : 204 pages, 144 illustrations. hardcover - Wolfgang Laib lives and works closely with the cycles of nature. His works are composed of natural materials that he collects and processes himself. In 1975, Wolfgang Laib created his first milk stone, in 1977, he started sifting pollen into "color miracles," brightly colored fields of pollen, or piling it into small "unsurmountable mountains"; in 1983, he began incorporating rice into his works; and in 1987, beeswax became a signature working material. Both sensual and fragile, his works project aesthetic as well as natural aspects of the transitory nature of our surroundings. Texts by Klaus Ottmann and Margit Rowell, a conversation between the artist and Harald Szeemann and an illustrated biography make for the most comprehensive study of Wolfgang Laib´s art and philosophy.

Softcover. Zustand: gut. 2012. This is Page 3 of the May 1963 Playboy Magazine interview, typed on recto only. The leaf features questions and answers on Malcolm X's devotion to the Nation of Islam and how Muslim values drive his efforts to improve the lives of Black people. Near fine condition with thin creases along edges. Signed by Malcolm X in pen at the bottom of the page, with a line in the left-hand margin indicating his approval of the contents. Includes the full published interview, pages 53 through 64. Leaves held in protective mylar sleeves. All housed in a custom black cloth folder, measures 10" x 12.5". An important piece of a notable interview from the Civil Rights Movement era. In this interview, Malcolm X states: "The guiding goal of every Muslim is to faithfully serve and follow The Honorable Elijah Muhammad." Malcolm X connected with the Nation of Islam while in prison from 1947 to 1948. He wrote to the Nation's leader, Elijah Muhammad, who advised him to renounce his criminal past and move forward in his religious practice. The two kept regular correspondence over the following decade as Malcolm X's influence grew, both in religious spheres and in the Civil Rights movement. In the early 1960s, Malcolm X's devotion to the Nation of Islam and Muhammad was questioned as public issues arose. These issues included: Malcolm X's anger over the lack of Nation of Islam response to unprovoked LAPD violence against Muslims in 1962, allegations of Muhammad engaging in sexual affairs with young secretaries in 1963, and Malcolm X's censorship by the Nation of Islam following comments made on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Malcolm X officially announced his split from the Nation of Islam on March 8, 1964, just one year after this article was published. He faced intimidation by the Nation of Islam and was heavily monitored by the FBI. Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965, in New York City.
