Raised in Washington State, Dave began his career in public service after leaving college and working in retail loss prevention which ultimately led him to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office where he became a reserve deputy.

During nearly 9 years with the Sheriff’s Office Dave focused on impaired driving enforcement and sharpening his police skills while working as a paid provisional deputy and police officer for both the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Arlington Police Department. Dave also traveled throughout Washington State providing hundreds of commissioned officers specialized animal cruelty investigations training. This training also took him to Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada to teach his craft.

Behind the badge, Dave fought a private battle with obesity, reaching 408 pounds before committing to a life‑changing transformation. Through discipline, determination, and a deep desire to reclaim his life, he lost 197 pounds through diet and exercise, and has kept it off now for 15 years.

In Redemption, Dave shares the highs and lows of his police career, the emotional weight of obesity, and the journey he embarked on to reshaped his life. Dave’s story is meant to inspire others to begin their own path toward positive change and possibility.

“Strength isn’t measured in pounds lost, but in the courage to begin.”
