Julio Velez- AKA Kaysey Strong

Julio Velez, also known as Kaysey Strong, is a Hip-Hop music producer who has been writing and producing his own songs for over 20 years. He has written and starred in several music videos and also appeared in the short-lived Hip Hop Musical “Echo Park”, which ran for four months at the world-famous Apollo Theatre in 2000. He has released two Solo Albums through iTunes and Spotify off his own label, “Off the Cross Music.” He toured all over the United States, opening for such acts as “De La Soul and Digable Planets.”

He is currently working on his fourth solo album, titled “Bloody Knuckles,” set for release in the fall of 2025.

His independent film, which he wrote and produced, called “Convicted,” is now being distributed and streamed on Amazon Prime Video.VUDU, and other major streaming platforms. It’s a drama where Kaysey plays a convicted felon recently released from jail, trying to reconnect with his teenage daughter. He collaborated with Ruya Koman and Cristhian Andrews on the project.

In 2016, he appeared in the feature-length play “Second Seat” at the Winterfest Theater Festival. He also appeared in the short film “Bonnie and Bonnie,” in which he plays a jealous boyfriend who controls his girlfriend's every move.

In 2017, he appeared in the short film “Interference” by the Independent as a state trooper. “Interference” qualified as a semi-finalist at the NBC Universal Short Film Festival in NYC.

Kaysey has two Feature Scripts that he has completed and is looking to develop for his following projects. He is also an accomplished rapper who writes and produces his own songs as well as for other artists.

In 2025, Kaysey published his first Novel entitled “ A Life in Days,” based on the screenplay “Butchie,” which he wrote based on actual events that occurred early in his childhood. The book is being released on Amazon Kindle in September 2025.
