Sue Yardley

Sue is an author with a love for horses and a lifelong connection to the racing world.

Growing up on a farm in Worcestershire, she developed a passion for horses at a young age, thanks in no small part to her father's role as a racehorse trainer. As a result, horses have always played a significant role in Sue's life.

For the past 24 years, Sue has worked as a nurse while simultaneously assisting her father and sister with the racehorses.

However, writing a children's book has presented her with an entirely new and exciting experience.

The inspiration for Sue's book, "Cyril the Racehorse," comes from her own real-life experiences with a horse named Cyril, whose actual name was Classic Colours.

Purchased as a four-year-old from the sales, Cyril was trained by Sue's father for several years before retiring from racing. Sue eventually had the opportunity to buy Cyril, and their adventures together began.

Cyril had a vibrant personality and loved to show off, but like many racehorses, he was easily spooked, often leading to some rather loud noises coming from beneath his tail!

This peculiar trait became the catalyst for the story that would eventually unfold.

Sue and Cyril even participated in two charity races at Hereford racecourse, raising vital funds for charitable causes.

Although they may not have won, the experience was immensely enjoyable, and Cyril relished being back on the racetrack.

Sadly, Sue's father and Cyril have since passed away, but the process of writing this book has allowed Sue to relive many cherished memories of them both.

She hopes that they are watching from above, delighted to see Cyril's adventures brought back to life through the pages of her heartwarming children's book.
