If you have a story, please come sit by me. By the time I was 10 years old in 1954, I was starting to take oral history from people. I really didn't know what I was doing. All I wanted to do was hear stories of the old days. In 1954 it was no trick to find people that could tell stories as far back as the 1870s. It became a lifetime habit to ask people to tell me about their lives. Almost everyone has a great story about their dreams or fears or coping with hard times. I always considered it a privilege to hear the stories of someone's life. I have always been attracted to the people that have taken an unconventional path through life; the characters that have a different vision. Truth and fiction are very close neighbors. In the end, it may all be someone's truth.
