Terry Beard

An entrepreneur with many years of experience building and leading successful ventures in retail, manufacturing, importing, brick and mortar business service sector enterprises, and in recent years, he has been involved in internet based business opportunities.

His entrepreneurial endeavors began at age 9 selling newspapers and picking beans and berries in Vancouver, WA.

Terry is the founder of Beard Frame Shops and Frame Central Stores, and Beards Online Picture Framing., His enterprises included manufacturing in Canby, Oregon and importing product from SE Asia.

Terry left the brokerage business at age 25 and launched his first Beard’s Frame Shop with a few thousand dollars and lots of sweat equity.

Terry Beard developed the Beard’s Frame Shops/Frame Central chain, growing the single store company from two to a few hundred employees, creating a 37-store regional chain in the Pacific Northwest providing quality framing services to consumers and effectively competing with larger national chains.

Beard’s Frame Shops achieved broad market recognition because of Terry’s determination to create and steward a high-quality business by developing a vertically integrated (an end-to-end solution) enterprise featuring excellent customer service. This quest included traveling the world to select trees and lumber supplies for his frames. In 1999, Terry merged Beards with NW Framing in Seattle.

Over the last 18 years, he has been active in emerging and established businesses, continuing his active involvement in business development. Since 1999, Terry has been actively involved in Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN).

Terry has and continues service on the Boards of Directors for several local companies and organizations. In the service community, Terry is a member of the Portland Rotary Club. He was East Portland Rotary President 2001 - 2002. He has been a Rotarian since 1993.

Terry has served as a volunteer Toastmaster mentor with the Oregon Department of Corrections, at the Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI), which hosts Rose City Toastmasters.

In October 2015, Terry was the founding charter member of the Portland Rotary Toastmaster Club, self-proclaimed as “The Greatest Rotary Toastmaster Club in The Universe.”

He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco; and served in the US Army.

Terry divides his time between Portland, Oregon and Paris, France. He lives with his wife Pascale and is the proud father of two sons Jeff, and Malcolm.
