Larry Meyler

Larry, originally a council estate kid from coastal Ireland, moved to London on his own at the young age of 17 years old, leaving all he knew behind.

He began his writing career in 2017 with the release of his first book: the self-published title Being Brave.

His self-deprecating, relatable and entertaining style of writing has been a triumph for the ‘artful dodger of the literary world’ who was kicked out of school aged fifteen with no academic qualifications and who typed his first book on an iPad.

To quote Larry himself: “I typed the whole thing with two fingers. I mean, I have all ten but haven't quite mastered that Jessica Fletcher-style tapping yet”.

Joanna Lumley calls Being Brave “utterly gripping”, and a host of other famous fans, from James Arthur to Geri Halliwell, have found themselves lost in the pages of the poignant and fearlessly honest memoir from this ‘unlikely author’.

The Sun says “It will inspire you like very few books do”, and The Daily Star Sunday calls it “a fearless piece of writing and unique memoir”.

The book has gained five stars ★★★★★ on Amazon and has featured in The Evening Standard, Fabulous and Now magazine. Larry has since written articles for Glamour, Men's Health, MailOnline and has worked with Heads Together, the mental health charity spearheaded by Prince William, Princess Catherine and Prince Harry. He has also been a radio and podcast guest and hosted school talks centered around mental health.

Larry’s second literary venture is called The Book of Hope, a collaboration released in April 2021 through Bluebird/Pan MacMillan. The author Britt Pfluger along with author and mental health advocate Jonny Benjamin MBE were at the helm for this one.

For Larry’s section of the book, the publishers decided to team him up with names such as Joe Wicks, Dame Kelly Holmes DBE, Katie Piper and Carrie Grant - a stellar cast which Larry is super proud to be part of.

Both releases have been a success, especially Being Brave, which, as a testament to its relatability and reach, is still selling both in paperback and digital format five-plus years later.

Larry says “The raw and open messages that I’ve received from around the world since my writing journey began have been heart breaking, inspiring and truly humbling.”

2022 brings us Larry’s third book titled The Mindset Handbook...Little Nuggets for a Mental Evolution. It’s a project in which Larry shares his own personal mental health and mindset growth.

In this book, he aims to elevate and inspire his readers, to help set them on a new path with a renewed sense of determination and clarity. Rather than the shitty paths an anxious mind continually presents them with, he offers up his own insights to help clear the way to one where they can take control of their focus to shine the spotlight on their choices and actions.
