Franz-Luitpold Kessler

Franz-Luitpold Kessler was born 1956 in Munich, Germany. After High School and Army Service he studied Geology and Spanish in Munich and Freiburg. In 1979 he traveled on a very meager budget through South America, and, in 1980, spent 7 month in northern Spain doing geological fieldwork. From 1982 to 1985 he carried out geological fieldwork in the Austrian Alps. In 1982 he traveled to Nepal and Sikkim to study Buddhism. Then, in 1986, he joined an oil company as exploration geologist and moved around the world. He lived in Turkey, the Netherlands, the Republic of Congo, Texas, India and Malaysia. For short projects he visited Brazil, Gabon, Namibia. He left the oil industry in 2009 and taught geosciences in Malaysian Borneo. Since 2016, Franz works as independent consultant and writer in Malaysia and Germany. During his long journey around the world, he showed a keen interest in indigenous culture and collected stories and tales of the local people. He is the author of both geological and geophysical articles as well as subjects such as adventure travel, religion and magic.
