Emyll O'Bryan lives in a small, gray box on the edge of nowhere with an onion and two cats. She would say the middle of nowhere, but she knows someone who lives there. It's close but not quite within rock-throwing distance. She had dreams of becoming a member of a big-hair 80s band in her teens; started on an anthropology degree with ambitions of becoming an archaeologist in her twenties; and decided in her thirties that she should just stick with what she knew: telling stories. She enjoys history (although anything after 1865 is current events to her), languages (both real and imaginary), cooking (mostly Italian and Greek), watching movies ( a good sci-fi horror adventure) and television, singing in the shower (it provides its own special auto-tune), and sleeping (lots of sleeping). She is also known to occasionally play video games, but she isn't very good at it.

One might notice that reading is not mentioned as a hobby, which could be considered a peculiarity among writers. Emyll does read...a lot, but it's usually non-fiction for research. She does read fiction, particularly anything by Stephen King, but she also likes J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Lindsay Buroker, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Lemony Snicket, Jane Austen, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, and Janet Evanovich. Is her writing style like any of theirs? Not at all.

She lays no claim to expertise or lofty credentials; she just likes telling a good story.

Although her current novel belongs to a series set in the early nineteenth century and by genre falls somewhere between historical fiction and romance, Emyll is not a slave to a specific genre. She enjoys writing, whether it involves petticoats, punk rock, or interplanetary defense. Vampires, fairies, and even Robin Hood have been used on occasion.
