Angela Johnson has been interested in cooking since she was a teenager. Growing up in a small town in Illinois, she enjoyed reading her mother's cookbooks and learning to cook herself. Leaving Illinois in her early 20s, she has lived in the states of New Mexico, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas, and also in Japan and Canada.
Wherever she has lived or when she travels, she looks for unusual foods in grocery stores, eats at local restaurants, and buys regional cookbooks. She's also interested in learning how people prepared their food in the past.
Angela's first book, "Meat Cookery, How Americans Cooked Meat in the 1800s" reflects her interest in food history. She read through many cookbooks from that time period and compiled information, instructions, and recipes into a book just on cooking meats.
She's already working on a second book from the same time period; about preparing vegetables.
