Lieve Snellings

Lieve Snellings is een gepensioneerd fotografe-auteur die in Leuven (België) en Quebec (Canada) woont. Haar boeken zijn meermaals bekroond.

Geboren in 1954 en in 1975 gediplomeerd maatschappelijk werkster. Sinds 1978 tot 2015 werkte ze op de dienst Spoedgevallen van het Universitair Ziekenhuis Gasthuisberg in Leuven, België.

Haar serie kinderboeken ‘Verhalen van marmotten, eekhoorns en tamias (aardeekhoorns) telt nu vijf boeken, geschreven in het Nederlands en vertaald in het Engels en Frans. Door de illustraties te vervangen door haar eigen, fantasievol bewerkte natuurfotografie transformeert Lieve Snellings de traditionele prentenboekervaring.

In 2008 leerde ze haar partner kennen die heel snel de passie van natuurfotografie wist aan te boren. Nu verblijft Lieve Snellings een 5 maanden per jaar in Quebec. Deze foto’s uit Quebec vormen de basis van haar prentenboeken.

Haar afbeeldingen illustreerden veel boeken, tijdschriften en werden online gepubliceerd. Haar foto's werden getoond in tentoonstellingen over de hele wereld.

Lieve Snellings is a retired freelance photographer/author who lives in Leuven (Belgium).

Her series of picture books/children's books featured whimsical photo illustrations of wildlife, 'Stories about Groundhogs, Squirrels and Chipmunks' consists of five books, available in Dutch, English, and French.

Her images illustrated many books, magazines and were published online. Her photos were shown in exhibitions all over the world.

Since 2008, after meeting up with her partner who lives in Quebec, you can find her for about 5 months a year in Canada. There she became a passionate nature photographer. She spent hours, weeks... Observing wildlife and searched every info she could find. This and her imagination made her publish three children's books in which photos are as important as words.

Her stories take the traditional picture book experience and transform it by replacing illustrations by her own nature photography. The books are written in her mother tongue Dutch and translated in English and French.
