Andre Karliczek

Dr. André Karliczek studied history of science, prehistory and biological anthropology at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena. From 2007-2011 he was fellow at SFB 482 'Event Weimar-Jena. Culture around 1800 '. In 2011-2014, as a scholarship holder of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, he did his doctorate with a thesis on the history of theoretical biology and medicine "The Models of the Living". In 2014-2017 he was the head of the subproject "The Material Side of Colors" in the BMBF collaborative research project "Color as actor and storage" (FARBAKS). In 2017-2019, he was a research assistant in the ERDF innovation project cultur3D with a special focus on the authentic reproducibility of colour in 3D models of cultural heritage. In 2019-2020 he was a member of the founding group of the German Optical Museum. Since 07/2019 Head of the Department of Innovation, Service Development and Communication at the Thuringian University and State Library. His scientific work focuses on the development of color standards in the early sciences and the epistemic significance of evolutive and ecological influences on visual perception.
