Rod Macleod

For 15 years I was a male stripper with The Highlanders Male Dance Troupe.

We travelled all over Scotland, Ireland and Spain. After I retired from The Highlanders in 2006 I started a freelance stripper career performing one and two man shows. When the shows dried up mainly down to the smoking ban killing the entertainment scene for working mens clubs, I turned to strippograms.

At the age of 48 I still get regularly booked most weekends. I am the only stripper that works for one agency in North Lanarkshire. The simple message here is 'the older the meat, the sweeter the juice'. I get people telling me that I can't keep fighting Father Time. I reply that I don't want to fight him, I'm a lover not a fighter. I've also ran and promoted club nights in Glasgow as well as being a House music DJ.

It took me about a year and a half to write 'Nae Hair'. I 'borrowed' the name from The Glasgow Herald newspaper who ran an article on The Highlanders where the journalist named the piece 'Nae Hair and a G String' meaning that we shave our bodies and wear budgie smugglers.

I have held down full time 'real' jobs in finance and sales all my working life and am married to my lovely and wacky wife Elaine and have two children,Lachlan (which is defined in the Gaelic language as 'the sound of the lochs' and Logan (which is defined as 'cheeky monkey'). We live in Glasgow in Scotland.

I am inspired by gritty books and films. Pigeon English, The Road, Down to the Bone and Winters Bone, Frozen River and The Wrestler to name but a few. I started a second 'untitled project' two years after I finished 'Nae Hair' but lost the passion to complete it at that time. Consider it binned but I have something else in mind...watch this space.
