Hand-bound by Smith Settle in quarter 'Nigerian goatskin leather with vegetable parchment sides, blocked with a design by David Eccles'; all edges gilt; a fine copy in the fine publisher's cloth-bound clamshell case, lettered in gilt and black on the spine. A lavish facsimile edition, reproducing a 13th century illuminated manuscript of the 'Book of Revelations' (MS Ludwig III 1) in the J. Paul Getty Museum. This is number 531 of 1000 copies for sale to members of the Folio Society (a further 20 lettered copies, not for sale, were also produced). Complete with the companion volume by Nigel J. Morgan, 'The Getty Apocalypse Commentary', containing translations of St John's text and commentary by Berengaudus, a codicological description and contextual essays (folio, cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, 136 pages plus 22 pages of plates; tiny light mark to the leading edge; essentially, a fine copy).
