Ursula Graham Bower (1914-1988), worked as an anthropologists in the Naga Hills of India between 1937 and 1946. With Japan's invasion of Burma in 1942, and at the request of the British Government, she led a band of Nagas as guerilla scouts to hunt down the Japanese in the mountains. The Japanese offered a bounty for her capture, unsuccessfully. She also established a system providing safe passage for escaped prisoners and bailed-out airmen fleeing from Burma to India. This is the remarkable story of these years.

The inner hinges are strained (and have been repaired); overall, the book is in good to very good condition. The dustwrapper is present, but is in scruffy condition (chipped and torn with loss to the spine panel). The dustwrapper has now been put in a mylar cover to protect it.

Very readable account on the author`s life in Subansiri area in Assam/Northern India, where her husband was political officer.
