Christine Bauer's research and teaching activities are driven by her interdisciplinary background. She holds a Doctoral degree in Social and Economic Sciences (2009, with honors) and a Master's degree in International Business Administration (2002), both from University of Vienna, Austria, as well as a Master's degree in Business Informatics (2011) from Vienna University of Technology (Austria).
In her research, she takes a human-centered computing approach, where technology follows the humans’ and the society’s needs.
Her research focuses on the human perspective in the interaction with intelligent systems. Recently, the specific focus lies on music recommender systems.
She is an experienced teacher in a wide spectrum of topics in computing and information systems.
She received the Elise Richter excellence grant for her research on "Fine-grained culture-aware music recommender systems". She holds several best paper awards and received awards for her reviewing activities.
