Diane wrote for many top national and international magazines before she became passionate about the "new" science of the brain in the late 1970 and 80's. She wrote an unprecedented, well-publicized, seven part series for Playboy on the subject with British filmmaker and author, Jo Durden-Smith, as well as the book: "Sex and the Brain."
Sex and the Brain was the first published book for the layperson on the late 20th century heady time in the biological sciences, when researchers were peering into the human body and brain and asking: "so, who are we as a species?" Some were focusing on the differences being found between the sexes not only in body, but also in brain and behavior, endocrine and immune systems-- and thus "Sex and the Brain" which scrutinized this research, met the scientists, and describes the evolutionary nature of the equality of women and men, and how psycho-biologically they are subtly different, and also complementary...not unlike males and females elsewhere in nature.
In the last years of the 20th and early years of the 21st century, she penned a few stories, held a private psychotherapy practice, and contributed to the US co-housing movement by co-developing two communities in Tucson, Arizona. A memoir of hers is tucked into "Feathers Brush My Heart," ed. Sinclair Browning.
In 2004 she went on a sojourn to Thailand. She returned in 2006 for a few years, and then again in 2012. Thus, "Dear Thailand: A Love Story." Here she writes of experiences of death and life in Thailand, of the Thai people and culture. She tells of this place -- the only 98% Buddhist country on the globe -- which can redefine what it means to be human; a place which can radically reshape the heart.
In January 2018, Reconciliation ~ Heaven and Earth ~ was published. In this new work, inspired by true tales, she takes readers on a journey into the Sonoran desert of Arizona. The initial spark came from reading about an unresolved murder of a scientist she'd highly respected. It's a work of fiction --a mystery -- that explores astrophysics and extraterrestrial life. and what the nature of reality actually is -- and it's very different from what we've been taught by our cultures.
At the moment, she continues to live between Tucson, Arizona and Thailand with her partner, James Hamilton, writing notes for perhaps a sequel to Reconciliation, passionate about “the force”, quantum physics, transformation, and healing.
