Mare Cromwell

Mare Cromwell is an international speaker, multi-award-winning author and nature mystic. She has studied with Native American teachers for nineteen years and currently sits on the World Council for Wisdom Gatherings. She leads workshops on our Sacred Planet-Earth Mother, the Great Mother Wisdom Gathering, Womb Wisdom and Sacred Silliness. She loves to be involved in Sacred Water Ceremonies. Mare is also a former worm herder. She calls Western Maryland home.

Earlier in Mare's career, she was a park ranger at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and also Denali National Park. She also led environmental education programs on the Chesapeake Bay.

After receiving her Masters in Natural Resources at the University of Michigan in 1987, she worked internationally for five years co-leading an international environmental education network called the Global River Environmental Education Network (GREEN). The organization received numerous awards for its visionary programs.

In 1994, Mare left her international work to write and return to working out of doors. She created a sacred gardening company in Maryland and maintained private gardens while writing in the winter. On the side, she led environmental sustainability training programs and consulted with local watershed organizations in Maryland.

These days she still spends as much time outside as she can leading ceremony in the mountains and communing with Earth Mother, in the midst of juggling events, book promotion and other fun activities.
