Spread out in 29 villages the four thousand Indians share a preservation of 12000-square-miles and continue to maintain clearly different languages, traditions and social structures.Through archeological studies one have established the origin of these peoples back more than a thousand years in the same area."Xingu Chronicles" is a photographic portrait of the Xingu culture, which at the end of the 20th-century is both threatened by profit-seeking multi-national companies, as well as facing the dilemmas of adjusting to the cultural influence of the outside modern society.The "Xingu Chronicles portfolio " consist of thirty individual photoengravings, recorded in 1996 and 1997 and first exhibited at the Dillon Gallery, New York in 1998.The edition of each individual image is limited to thirtyfive prints, with one BAT, two printers proofs and six artist proofs made.
