This book is not a catalogue, but was produced to accompany the sale of the series of paintings by Georg Baselitz (b.1938) entitled 11 P.D.Feet at Christie's London on the 4th October, 2018.At the time of the sale, Christie's lot description stated: "A series of rare and singular importance, held in the same distinguished private collection for forty years, Georg Baselitzs 11 P.D. Feet is a seminal suite of early works that announced his artistic ambitions to the world. In 1946, Pablo Picasso visited an exhibition of ceramics in Vallauris, an area in southeastern France known for its many potteries. He would move to the region soon after, establishing a steady relationship with the Madoura ceramics workshop in 1948. It was a watershed moment for Picasso, who throughout his long life was always on the lookout for new artistic challenges in all conceivable materials.
