Watermark, The United Kingdom, 2018, Second edition. 356 pages, 26.924 x 27.305 cm, Hard cover. -- After several failed attempts, Kowloon Walled City has finally been demolished 20 years ago, leaving behind a legacy of fascination that continues to grow, fueled in part by the extraordinary communities of many urban legends. Designed and edited by Greg Girard and Ian Lambot, the team behind the City of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City, this new publication questions those myths and explores the reality behind the Walled City's extraordinary architecture and development. Through photographs, drawings, and documents, many previously unpublished, plus an extended article by Hong Kong-based writer and journalist Fionnuala McHugh, the full story is revealed.…

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. Book and dust jacket are in very good condition. 216pp with colour and b/w photographs. Lambot, Ian; Girard, Greg (illustrator).

paperback. Zustand: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only. Prima edizione di 500 esemplari firmati dall'Autore (First edition of 500 copies signed by the Author). . Chiddingfold, Watermark, (1993), first edition, 216 pag., richly illustrated, original boards with dustjacket, quarto (28 x 28 cm.). = Fascinating account and photo-reportage of the Kowloon Walled City of Hong-Kong, an aera of 100x200 metres where some 35.000 people were living. "How did the Walled City come about? How was it possible for so many people to live and work in such appalling conditions, and yet in apparent harmony? 'City of Darkness' attempts to answer these questions. Before its final clearance, late in 1992, photographers Greg Girard and Ian Lambot spent four years exploring the City, interviewing many of its inhabitants and photographing them at work or in their homes."
