After a hiatus of around five years since the publication of the final issue of the original series, in 1951, Tambimuttu relaunched the magazine in New York in 1956. However, this version of the magazine only ran to four issues before cessation again in 1960. With the Lyre Bird cover design by Alexander Calder. ***Very good in cream-coloured, black and red illustrated and printed stapled card covers. The covers are slightly dulled and browned with age, with some marks to the covers commensurate with age and handling, but the covers are still very clean. Staples rusted as usual. Please note that the bottom of the spine has been bumped and this affects all pages (please see scans). Edges of covers slightly rubbed and creased, but no tears. Internally also very good with very clean pages. None of the usual foxing. No inscriptions. Both essay and letter on aged and brittle paper, with some chipping to extremities (not affecting text). Both are written in a tight, close hand. The letter: 2pp., 12mo. Jones begins: 'You will by this post, receive the Fragmentary Brathwayte Poetry, I some time since promised to send for your acceptance accompanied by a few Notes, I have at different times, collected, relating to their Author in whom you may perhaps feel inclined to take some interest, as one of our early English Poets contemporary, if not acquainted personally with our immortal Bard Shakspear.' He contends that, although 'singular', Brathwaite was 'a very popular Character in his time, and it does therefore seem strange what could have induced him to conceal the authorship of his "Barnabie's Journal" from the World'. The letter continues in the same tone, with a long initialled postscript. The essay is 4pp., 12mo, in a bifolium, with additional leaf carrying the title 'Notices of Richard Brathwayte and his Works.' Mamie Van Doren is Harriet Ames, the flirtatious bombshell, of course, and "the Queen of the B's," the fabulous Marie Windsor, is Julia Parry, Edmund's dutiful companion and sister. Filmed in and around the Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah. The Parry lodge, opened in the early 1930s by the Parry brothers, was built to lodge Hollywood film crews filming early Westerns in the area, and was popular among movie stars of Hollywood's golden age.
