Numerous woodcut portraits (of players and team management) within the text. An important and notoriously fragile football title. Includes early histories of 16 clubs: Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Bury, Derby County, Everton, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Stoke, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
